Global analysis firm Gartner forecasts worldwide IT spending will top $5 trillion this year, a nearly 10% increase from 2023. Analysts expect expenditures on various cloud services to be among the fastest-growing segments.

Not surprising as cloud computing delivers virtual applications that are secure, flexible, scalable and enable employees to work anywhere at any time. These transformational solutions allow the smallest businesses to compete with even the largest, more advanced and better-funded competitors – whether in their own regions or around the world.

What are your cloud options? Here are the basics:

  • A “public” cloud is a shared computing infrastructure, including hardware, storage, and networks. Each company’s access remains isolated from other organizations.
  • By comparison, a “private” or “enterprise” cloud is a computing model constructed and managed using an organization’s internal IT infrastructure and resources.
  • “Hybrid” clouds strike a balance of capabilities and benefits by pooling two or more virtual environments—public and/or private – using 3rd-party-sourced hardware – as well as company-supplied equipment, support and services.

Which cloud configuration is best for your business? Ask yourself this single powerful question to find answers:
